Cliff Lee didn't exactly pitch like Cy Young in his first start after coming off the 60-day DL on Monday night when he lost to the San Francisco Giants 7-4, but he didn't totally shit the bed either.
Lee had trouble locating his pitches. He finished his 5.2 innings of work giving up 12 hits, 6 earned runs, a free pass, and a home run.
Three Giants did get whiffed though.
Being dealt wasn't on Lee's mind, he said following the game. And his performance would not likely increase the return Ruben Amaro Jr. will be able to ask from team's looking for a guy who can bring the heat in a pinch.
Cliff seemed pretty calm talking with reporters about his outing after the game. It didn't seem like he really needed to let off any steam or anything. He appeared to have to let something else out actually.
It didn't take being in the clubhouse to know Cliff Lee stunk on Monday night. But, uh, those there may have had to deal with the lingering effects a bit longer.
From those that were in close striking distance:
Cliff Lee didn't have much to say about trades, but he did end his interview session with an emphatic fart, of which he seemed quite proud.— Andy Martino (@MartinoNYDN) July 22, 2014
if Cliff Lee wants to start a war of flatulence with the Philadelphia sporting press, he's lost his damn mind.— John Finger (@jrfingerCSN) July 22, 2014
