Long-time colleagues Phillie Phanatic and Hatfield Pig had a public falling-out at Citizens Bank Park on Monday that ended in violence. When the two mascots could not settle their differences, the Phanatic turned his hot dog cannon on the oversized hog and fired one shot from close range.
The Pig appeared to be okay, although his feelings were clearly hurt.
Witnesses told The700Level that tensions rose when the Phanatic and Pig began wagering on whether the Philadelphia Phillies would score a run or not in their contest against the Miami Marlins. The Phanatic believed the Fightins would score, but the Pig reportedly began arguing unearned runs would not count.
It turns out the disagreement was moot. The Phils didn’t score a run earned or otherwise as they fell to the Marlins 4-0.
