DeSean fires back at Rob Ryan

It was back in early August that Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, in typical Ryan family form, took a shot at the Eagles and their numerous free agent acquisitions and Vince Youngs Dream Team tag.

DeSean Jackson hasnt forgotten it.

Ryan, whose father Buddy coached the Eagles to zero playoff wins from 1986 through 1990, called the Eagles an all-hype team during Cowboys training camp in San Antonio and promised to beat their ass.

The Cowboys will get their chance Sunday, when they face the Eagles at the Linc. Its been a disappointing first six weeks for both teams. The Cowboys are 3-3, the Eagles 2-4.

I dont know if we win the all-hype team, Ryan said on Aug. 1. I think that might have gone to somebody else, but were going to beat their ass when we play them.

Before practice on Thursday, Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson was asked about Ryans comments, which -- ironically -- were almost word-for-word what Buddy Ryan used to say about the Cowboys.

For a coach to say that, its hard for me toI wouldnt expect that from a coach because hes not out there playing, Jackson said. Hes calling plays and putting his defense in the right position to stop the offense. But as far as a defensive coordinator, thats kind of unheard of, uncalled for.

It (would) be good if his players said that. Then I could understand that, because were all out on the field with them so Id be able to get a shot at that player who said something crazy. But for a coach, it aint like I can go run on the sideline and cut up the coach, run past them and score a touchdown. So I dont get caught up on that.

Jackson, who has taken the high road all year regarding his contract situation -- hes earning the NFL fourth-year minimum of 600,000 in base salary -- said he could relate to Asante Samuels remarks one day earlier in the same locker room.

Asante, unfortunately, hes had some issues with the trade issue or him being on the trading block, Jackson said. I cant really get into that because I dont really know too much about that. He felt a certain way. For a man, a human being to feel a certain way, I can kind of understand how he felt.

But as far as I feel about it, I cant really speak. The comment that was being said, he talked to us about it. I think everybody understands it. I think the best thing possible is to keep everything in house.
