Johnnie Lynn has been fired after just one year as the Eagles cornerbacks coach, the team announced Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles hired Lynn after last season as part of a complete overhaul of the defensive coaching staff that saw defensive coordinator Sean McDermott, defensive line coach Rory Segrest and linebackers coach Bill Shuey also fired and defensive consultant and secondary coach Dick Juaron leave as well.
Lynn, who spent 10 seasons playing for the Jets, came to the Eagles after five years with the 49ers, two years with the Ravens and seven years with the Giants.
Despite a season-ending four-game winning streak, the Eagles finished a season with great expectations a disappointing 8-8 and out of the playoffs.
Their vaunted trio of cornerbacks -- Asante Samuel, Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie -- all struggled most of the year, and despite three Pro Bowl corners, the Eagles allowed 27 touchdown passes -- sixth-most in franchise history and only four fewer than the franchise-record 31 the Eagles allowed last year.
Samuel, Asmomugha and Rodgers-Cromartie, who have all had at least six interceptions in a season, combined for only six this year.
Its expected that Lynn will not be the only member of the 2011 defensive coaching staff relieved of his duties.

Eagles head coach Andy Reid has not commented since the season ended on the future of defensive coordinator Juan Castillo, and owner Jeff Lurie, given the opportunity to give Castillo a vote of confidence when he met with the media this week, said Castillo was not the teams first choice last offseason.
