Feeley to start for Rams against Cowboys

A.J. Feeley can help the Eagles this Sunday, even with the Birds on the bye week.

Even with him in a Rams jersey.

The former backup quarterback for the Eagles is now with St. Louis and will get a chance to start in place of Sam Bradford, who is out with a high-ankle sprain.

The Rams play the Cowboys at 4:15 p.m. in Dallas.

Eagles fans should remember him well. Feeley hasn't started a game since 2007 and he's 7-8 as a starter in the NFL. One of those seven wins, however, came against the Cowboys.
Way back in 2002, Feeley led the Eagles to a 27-3 win over the Cowboys in Dallas. He was 19 for 33 for 253 yards and a touchdown. He also threw two picks.

In 2007, Feeley threw seven interceptions in his two starts for the Eagles. He lost both.

"He knows the offense. He knows the game plan," running back Steven Jackson said to the Associated Press. "He's going to need our help, all 10 (other) guys on the field, to help execute the play. But he's a veteran that we know if he gets in trouble, he knows how to get us out of trouble. And if we need to lean heavily on the run game, I'm prepared to do so as well."

The Rams are sitting at a woeful 0-5 record in a season in which they had such high hopes. The Cowboys are 2-3 and a loss would give them the same 2-4 record as the Eagles. The Eagles and Cowboys will meet next week in Philadelphia for an 8:20 p.m. Sunday night contest.

Maybe Feeley will beat the Cowboys so bad it will put them in an irreversible downward spiral and out of the NFC East race. Hey, it could ... happen. OK, maybe not but at least Eagles fans can root for Feeley one more time.

That Sunday night game will be the first of three home games for the Eagles. They play the Bears on Monday night the following week and Kevin Kolb makes his (triumphant?) return to Philadelphia the next Sunday.
