Hamstring injury keeps Asante out of practice

Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel is sitting out practice Wednesday with a hamstring injury he suffered during the Eagles win over the Jets Sunday.

Samuel said he participated in some drills on Tuesday, although since the Eagles were not required to issue an official injury report, nobody was quite sure how much work he really got in.

On Wednesday, the Eagles were going through their usual Thursday routine, since their game this weekend is on Saturday.

Samuel was at practice but did not have his helmet and was standing talking to defensive coordinator Juan Castillo while watching his teammates work in the teams indoor facility.

Head coach Andy Reid said on Monday he expects Samuel to play Saturday against the Cowboys in Dallas. Hell update injuries later Wednesday afternoon at his media briefing.

Samuel has three interceptions this year and 52 in his career, sixth-most in NFL history by a player in his first nine seasons.

Everybody else on the active roster was practicing Wednesday, including defensive end Darryl Tapp, who missed the Jets game with a broken rib he suffered a week earlier against the Dolphins, and Trevor Laws, who has been battling knee tendinitis.
