Kelce still learning about life in NFL

Jason Kelce didnt know what to expect from the NFL, from his first season with the Philadelphia Eagles. He certainly didnt expect this.

Kelce took over for Jamaal Jackson as the starting center when training camp began and hasnt given up the job yet. Kelce, a sixth-round draft pick out of Cincinnati, was plugged in on a team with major expectationsSuper Bowl expectations, even.

But here they are, at 3-6, in the basement of the NFC East.

I definitely expected that we would be in a much better position right now, Kelce said. Im a young guy, its been an ongoing learning process for me. There have been so many plays here and there in games, just one or two plays every game.

The Eagles have been in every game theyve played, every game theyve lost. In fact, theyve given up five fourth quarter leads this season. Theyre the first team in history to do that in nine games.

I like to think that good teams find a way to win those games, Kelce said.

The thing that bothered Kelce the most, however, is that a play here, a play there and the season could be different. The rookie center thinks that the Eagles could be in a much better position, even atop the division, if a few more plays just went theyre way.

You take those two plays out a game and we could be freakin' undefeated right now, Kelce said. And its crazy that the margin for victory in the NFL is so narrow because of how equal the talent is and how good the other guys out there are.
