Flyers: 4-0-1
Capitals: 5-0-0

Previous games

The Flyers are coming off a 7-2 thrashing of the Senators in Ottawa on Tuesday. Aside from the continued production from Claude Giroux, the game in Ottawa saw rookies Sean Couturier and Matt Read, and AHL call-up Harry Zolnierczyk rack up a combined seven points.

The Capitals continued their perfect start to the season on Tuesday with a 3-0 victory at home against the Florida Panthers.

Recent encounters

The two teams split their season series last year. All four of the games went into overtime, with two of them being decided in a shootout.

Storylines

This is a matchup of the two top teams in the Eastern Conference, and the Flyers will be looking to hand the Caps their first loss this season.

Even though Zolnierczyk has been sent back down to Glens Falls, highly touted rookie Brayden Schenn will be making his Flyers debut.

If the Flyers are able to win in regulation, they could take first place in the conference away from the Capitals.

In addition, this game could amount to a goaltender battle: with Ilya Bryzgalov in net for the Flyers, and Tomas Vokoun in net for the Caps, two of the league's top netminders are set to square off tonight.

Whos hot?

Giroux continued his hot start with another goal in Ottawa. Read notched his sixth point in five games on Tuesday.

For the Capitals, Marcus Johansson has had the game-winning goal in back-to-back games.

Injuries

Flyers: Ian Laperriere, Blair Betts

Capitals: Jay Beagle, Michal Neuvirth, Tom Poti, John Erskine
