Former Flyer Versteeg finds niche in Florida

SUNRISE, Fla.Kris Versteeg was underwhelming at best last season, during his partial season with the Flyers.

This year, however, its an entirely different story.

Versteeg, now a member of the Florida Panthers, seems to have found a niche down south. He leads the Panthers with eight goals and 17 points in 15 games.
The Panthers acquired the 25-year-old right wing from the Flyers in July for just a conditional second-round pick in the 2012 or 2013 draft and a third-round selection in the 2012 draft. Its already paying offhe could prove to be tough opposition for the Flyers Sunday evening at BankAtlantic Center.

The Flyers had high expectations for Versteeg, who they picked up in February. He never quite came in to his own in Philly, though he blames his mediocre performance on a nagging groin injury.

In 27 games with the Flyers, Versteeg had seven goals and four assists.
