Jagr says he'll play tonight vs. Jets

Jaromir Jagr said after the Flyers' morning skate that he intends to play in tonight's game at the Wells Fargo Center against the Winnipeg Jets -- at least, he added, "that's the plan."

Jagr, who aggravated his left groin on Jan. 21 in the Flyers' win over the New Jersey Devils, has been skating but missed the Flyers' last two games against Boston and Florida. He's missed time with groin issues two other times this season.

Staying out of the game with injury has been a new, and not enjoyable, experience for the Flyers' right wing.

"The last seven years, I didnt miss a game," Jagr said. "Maybe I just dont know how to deal with the injuries. Maybe Im too impatient. I just want to play every opportunity I get. If I feel I can play, I want to play. The game is always different in practice. During the game, you forget about having injuries but one bad turn could put you back again."

At Monday's practice, the Flyers' first since the All-Star break, Jagr said he would make a decision about playing based on how he felt this morning.

He's worked out on his own, but had a six-day break because of All-Star weekend, which gave his injury more time to heal.

"It was the All-Star break," he said. "I had a lot more practices than before. I was skating on my own during the All-Star break. I had like four or five practices before that. I know its not the same as a game but at least there are some positives."

Danny Briere and James van Riemsdyk, both out indefinitely with concussions, also took part in the morning skate. Neither player is expected to return to the lineup tonight, however.

As expected, goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov will get the start tonight. In the Flyers' two previous games against the Jets this season (both losses), Bryzgalov did not get a start. In the Flyers' 9-8 loss to Winnipeg on Oct. 27, Bryzgalov came into the game in relief of Sergei Bobrovsky, allowing four goals on 10 shots.
