Jagr shows his value on power plays

The Jaromir Jagr juggernaut came to Wells Fargo Center on Monday night.

Sure, its just an exhibition game. A nasty, chippy affair against arch-rival New York Rangers with nothing up for grabs now butthings to file away come Winter Classic time in January.

Anyway, Jagrs value to this team will be on the power play where he simply takes his time and doesnt try to do too much.

Jagr scored two power-play goals and now has three goals in two preseason games. He also had an assist in Monday's contest.

He played on Claude Girouxs line at even strength with Max Talbot.

The guy has a good future here, Jagr said, adding that Giroux reminded him of himself when he was younger. "A little Mario Lemieux. A little smaller. You can see he has great hands.

Jagrs first goal was a blast from the circle that tied the game at 1-1 in the first period. His second power-play goal was in the middle of the slot as he buried it past goalie Henrik Lundqvist on a nice pass from Danny Briere in the left circle.

That second-period goal gave the Flyers a 2-1 lead. Jagr had an assist on Braydon Coburns go-ahead goal in the third period that made it, 4-3.

Read continues to contribute
Matt Read scored the Flyers' third power-play goal in the second period with a one-timer from Briere in the right slot.

Two club sources say Read will be on this team, but thats been evident for a while now given the amount of work the 25-year-old has gotten on the power play and penalty kill.

And Read is going to play. He wont be the 13th forward. In this one, he worked with Wayne Simmonds and Brayden Schenn.

Coach Peter Laviolette said Read has worked in every possible game situation and excelled.

Can you do anything else to make this team?

Limit my turnovers or something? Read said laughing. I think Im playing well.
