No discipline for Hartnell on Paajarvi hit

CALGARY -- Scott Hartnell said it was an unintentional hit on Edmonton's Magnus Paajarvi and the NHL agreed.

Paajarvi suffered what appeared to be a badly sprained - or worse - right knee injury when checked by Hartnell in the second period of Thursday's 2-0 loss in Edmonton (see game story). Hartnell got a two-minute minor for kneeing.

The NHL reviewed the play on Friday and decided there will be no supplementary discipline.

"I never really thought about it," Hartnell said, admitting he didn't anticipate a suspension.

"I don't know how Paajarvi is doing or whatever, but hits like that happen. You get bumps and bruises and things like that. I don't think I went out of my way to hurt him or try to hurt him. I was finishing my check."
