Philly full of meanies, puppy kickers, tax cheats?

Maybe we should just embrace it. Every December, instead of taking our kidsor your kids; I dont have anyto sit on Santas lap, we should just pelt the poor slob in the suit with snowballs or, really, anything thats handy. Then we could thumb our noses at the finger-waggers and head-shakers that never miss an opportunity to criticize our behavior. If you cant beat em, join em. That sort of thing.
Savages you say? Well show you savages.

Ugh.

An angry, disapproving mob has mobilized again, this time using an incident from Wednesday nights Flyers game as fuel for the torches it carries when hunting its favorite preythe unrepentant, sinister monsters known colloquially as Philly Fans.

Burn them! Burn them! they cry. Or something.

If you missed it, the Flyers played a Hockey Fights Cancer commercial between periods at the Wells Fargo Center. The video featured players such as Sidney Crosby, Jonathan Toews and Ryan Miller. So, yeah, they got booed. Not everybody booed them, but that hardly mattered. Nor did it matter that the fans in question were booing the players, not the message.

Unsurprisingly, the story was picked up by several media outlets, including the fine folks at Puck Daddy -- who called the fans classless in a wink-and-nod line to point out how absurd the whole thing is -- and our friends at Deadspin, who just sort of snickered at the whole thing.

And we're off. If youre on Twitter, you wont have to search too hard for nasty missives admonishing the fans for their loathsome behaviorbecause if you boo Crosby, you must be in favor of cancer. The mind reels.

Im too tired to fight it. I cant speak for everyone (or anyone, for that matter), but if youre an out-of-town media member and youre reading this, youre right about me. Im a hateful Philadelphian and I loathe everything you love, including kittens and sunshine. Given the opportunity, I would murder a unicorn.
