Tuesday injury updates: Jagr hopeful vs. NYI

Jaromir Jagr is hopeful to play Wednesday night in Uniondale, N.Y., against the Islanders, while Braydon Coburn will likely play.

Chris Pronger, who has a virus, is out and didnt travel with the team.

Thats just some of the moves the Flyers made on Tuesday.

Jagr has a groin pull and Coburn has bruised kidneys.

The club also activated Brayden Schenn off long-term injury (LTIR), then assigned him to the Adirondack Phantoms to get some games in. They also recalled winger Harry Zolnierczyk from Trenton.

Coburns injury at this point is more delicate, but he would not talk about it, referring questions to general manager Paul Holmgren.

That the Flyers sent rookie defenseman Kevin Marshall back to the Phantoms but kept Marc-Andre Bourdon here implies Bourdon replaces Pronger against the Isles while Coburn has to play.

Coburn skated, took some light contact, while Pronger worked out off-ice.

Its a matter of getting cleared by the doctor, Coburn said, adding only he was injured at Winnipeg.

Obviously, he must have gotten clearance to play because an hour later, Marshall was sent back.

Jagr, who went through a practice, said he feels better than two days ago.

Hopefully tomorrow, I will be able to skate in the morning and play the game, he said.

He credited acupuncture with helping him heal quicker.

Today we had some game drills and it didnt bother me, Jagr said. I didnt go 100 percent. I dont want to do anything stupid and not able to skate tomorrow. And I have an extra 1days to heal it. After four or five days it moves kind of quick.

Jagr said it was about seven years since he missed a game due to injury. That happened when he was a Washington Capital.

Missing a game, he said, At my age, is like losing one year of your life.
