CLEARWATER, Fla.The Phillies trimmed their spring rosterand their 40-man rosterwith several moves Wednesday morning.
Second baseman Harold Garcia was outrighted off the 40-man roster and sent to the minors. Garcia, 25, missed most of last season with a torn ACL and recently had microfracture surgery that will cost him another four to six months.
The Phillies 40-man roster now stands at 38.
The Phillies optioned the following players to the minors: infielder Cesar Hernandez, pitcher J.C. Ramirez, outfielder Tyson Gillies, catcher Sabastian Valle.
The team reassigned the following pitchers to minor-league camp: Dave Bush, Pat Misch, Austin Hyatt, B.J. Rosenberg.
