CLEARWATER, Fla.Phillies outfielder Domonic Brown will have an MRI on his sprained right thumb on Thursday. Brown suffered the injury diving for a ball in Mondays game against the Yankees.

Brown jammed the thumb two years ago, so Phillies medical personnel want to take a closer look at it, according to assistant general manager Scott Proefrock. Brown broke the hook of the hamate bone at the base of his right hand last spring.

We dont think this is serious, Proefrock said. But we want to take every precaution.

In other injury news, Proefrock said lefty Dontrelle Willis would back off for a couple of days. Willis complained of a sore arm after a difficult outing on Wednesday.
