Last week, we asked whether Lenny Dykstra can be in two places at once (see blog post), maybe the better question would have been: Can Dykstra be in one place at once?
Dykstra had been scheduled to appear at a memorabilia show at the Oxford Valley Mall this past Saturday. The events organizers began to worry that Dykstra would back out when news broke last week (see blog post) that Dykstra agreed to fight Jose Canseco in a celebrity boxing match in California on the same day.
As it turns out, Dykstra didnt show up for the memorabilia show or the fight against Canseco. And now Dykstra claims he never agreed to box Canseco at all.
According to the Philadelphia Daily News, Dykstra said the fight was booked without his permission and that promoters made up quotes for a press release without his knowledge:
"I never agreed to anything," Dykstra told the Daily News in an e-mail. "Damon Feldman and Alki David continued to use my name to sell tickets and promote their event up until the last minute. They showed up at my door unexpected, I didn't even know who they were.
Well, that clears it up. Dykstra didnt know anything about the fight. No knowledge whatsoever. Except for those tweets he sent out last week. Like this one:
