BOX SCORE

NEW YORK -- Nick Williams stroked a single in three at-bats in his big-league debut, but the Phillies lost, 2-1, to the New York Mets at Citi Field on Friday night.

The Phillies had just four hits in the game and one came on a routine fly ball that dropped in.

The Phillies are 26-52, worst in the majors.

Starting pitching report
Rookie Ben Lively bounced back from a poor outing his last time out and pitched 6 1/3 innings of five-hit, two-run ball. He walked four and struck out two. He was helped greatly by a pair of 5-4-3 double plays.

Lively walked the opposing pitcher with two outs in the second inning and that hurt as it preceded an RBI single by Curtis Granderson.

Lively (1-3) has turned in a quality start in five of six big-league starts.

Mets right-hander Jacob deGrom (8-3) was outstanding. He allowed just three hits — one was a routine fly ball that was lost in the twilight — and one run over seven innings. deGrom walked just one and struck out 12.

deGrom has given up just three earned runs over 32 innings in his last four starts.

He has a 2.34 ERA in nine career starts against the Phils.

Bullpen report
Adam Morgan retired a pair of lefty hitters in the seventh inning. Morgan hit 95 mph on the radar gun.

Pat Neshek pitched a scoreless inning. He's pitched 31 2/3 innings and allowed just two runs this season.

Addison Reed had the save.

At the plate
Andrew Knapp got the Phillies' first hit with two outs in the fifth. Centerfielder Granderson lost Knapp's routine fly ball in the twilight and it was scored a triple. Ty Kelly followed with an RBI single to score Knapp with the Phillies' only run.

Granderson had a two-out single in the second, scoring T.J. Rivera who had doubled.

Jose Reyes stroked a one-out triple — it hit off Odubel Herrera's glove at the wall — and scored on a hit by Travis d'Arnaud.
