Previous games
The Phillies took Game 1 by an 11-6 final. Roy Halladay gave up three runs early but the Phillies stormed back with the longball to take the lead and the early series lead.

Head-to-head
The Phillies were 3-6 against the Cardinals in the regular season and were outscored, 34-32.

Who's hot?
Ryan Howard had one hit in Game 1 but it was a big one. It was Howard's three-run shot that gave the Phillies the lead, which they didn't give up. Shane Victorino went 3 for 4 with two RBIs. The No. 3-6 batters knocked in all 11 Phillies' runs.

Storylines
In Game 1, it looked like the Phillies were in trouble when Halladay gave up an early three-run homer to Lance Berkman, but Halladay settled in and the Phillies' bats came alive in the 11-6 win.
