Report: Angels frontrunner for Oswalt

Now that Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter is sidelined indefinitely due to nerve irritation in his shoulder, Roy Oswalt rumors have suddenly resurfaced.

According to Jim Bowden of ESPN.com, via HardballTalk, the Angels have emerged as the frontrunner for Oswalt's services.

The Red Sox are also still in the picture, while the Cardinals and Rangers have faded as possible landing spots.

Oswalt, 34, went 9-10 with a 3.69 ERA last season with the Phillies.

The Angels have Jered Weaver, Dan Haren, C.J. Wilson and Ervin Santana leading their rotation, but don't have much depth after that.
