CLEARWATER, Fla.Phillies third baseman Placido Polanco was relieved to report that he has a sprained left ring finger Sunday morning. An X-ray on the finger was negative.

Its a little stiff and a little sore, but not a big deal, Polanco said.

Polanco can still do some baseball activities, but will probably miss a few days of games.

Polanco injured the finger diving back to first base on a pickoff attempt in Saturdays game against Toronto. He said the finger was contorted and he popped it back in.

Its just a little sprain, assistant general manager Scott Proefrock said.

The Phillies infield has already sustained some significant blows as first baseman Ryan Howard recovers from surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon and a subsequent infection, and second baseman Chase Utley nurses a tendinitis-stricken knee.

The Phils play Toronto in Dunedin on Sunday.

Here is the Phils lineup:

Jimmy Rollins SS

Shane Victorino CF

Hunter Pence RF

Ty Wigginton 3B

John Mayberry Jr. 1B

Luis Montanez LF

Hector Luna DH

Erik Kratz C

Michael Martinez 2B

Cole Hamels P

In Clearwater, Jim Thome will play first base in a minor-league game.
