Sixers' Hawes, Vucevic out against Wizards

Center Spencer Hawes will miss his fourth straight game when the Sixers host the Wizards on Monday night. His replacement in the last three games, rookie Nikola Vucevic, is also out for Monday night's game (see game notes).

Hawes is out with a strained left Achilles. He made the trip to Miami but was unable to play.

The Sixers are 10-2 with Hawes in the lineup and are 1-3 without him. The only win without Hawes in the lineup came on Friday night against the Hawks.

Hawes, the fifth-year center, has been a pleasant surprise for the Sixers when healthy this season. He is averaging 10.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.7 blocks per game.

Vucevic, who started in Hawes' place for the last three games, is out with a quad and knee injury. According to Vucevic, it is more the quad injury than the knee that will keep him out.

The rookie scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds while battling veterans Joel Anthony, Chris Bosh and Udonis Haslem for three quarters before going down.

Philadelphia played the final 17 minutes without Vucevic and lost to the Heat.

Forward Elton Brand is a game-time decision on Monday with gastroenteritis.

The Sixers' seven-game homestand starts Monday night against the Wizards.
