With centers Spencer Hawes and Nik Vucevic still on the shelf with injuries, team president Rod Thorn has been looking for some big men to workout with the team.

On Thursday, 7-foot-1 center Francisco Elson and 6-foot-11 Dan Gadzuric will be at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine for a workout with the team.

Elson has logged 467 NBA games over eight years, averaging 3.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 15.4 minutes per game. He last appeared in 62 games with the Jazz last season. Gadzuric, 33, has played eight years in the NBA. Most recently he played 42 games with the Nets and Warriors last season, averaging 2.8 points per game.

For his career, Gadzuric has appeared in 525 regular-season games for the Nets, Warriors and Bucks.

You can never have enough big guys, Collins said. Rod Thorn is constantly looking out there to see what is available. As much as anything, and it might sound silly, but we need another big guy to come in so our guys on off days can play 3-on-3. Guys who arent playing a lot of minutes need to stay sharp and just getting out there to do that on a daily basis is something.

The Sixers have 13 players on the active roster, two below the limit. NBA contracts are not guaranteed until Feb. 10, which means the team can bring in players without having to pay them for the entire season.
