The Sixers on Tuesday officially waived Andres Nocioni, three days after his contract was bought out by the team (see story).
"We want to sincerely thank Andres for his contributions to our team and maintaining a true level of professionalism throughout his time here," Sixers President of Basketball Operations Rod Thorn said in a statement. "We wish him the best of luck as he pursues future opportunities."
The Sixers acquired Nocioni, along with Spencer Hawes, in a trade with Sacramento on June 17, 2010. The Kings received Samuel Dalembert in exchange for Nocioni and Hawes.
Nocioni averaged just 1.5 points and 1.3 rebounds in 11 games (one start) this season. He was averaging just 5.1 minutes in those games.
The Sixers' roster now stands at 13.
