Chase Utley bashed a two-run home run in the seventh inning to provide Cliff Lee and the Phillies with some hope of getting one of those pesky win things that have been eluding them. Carlos Ruiz stepped into the batter's box next and bashed a homer of his own to put the Phillies up 3-2. They never looked back.
Utley and Chooch. Chooch and Utley. Happy 4th of July.
Cliff Lee finally earns his first win of the season and the rock on the bottom seems a few inches farther away than it did yesterday.
Glad we can get past the big zero in Lee's win column and now focus on how he's actually pitching, which for most of the season has been decent enough for a few wins.
They piled it on in the eighth and ninth to win by a final of 9-2.
Rubber match tomorrow night. Enjoy the rest of your July 4th knowing that Cliff Lee has a win in this world.
Obviously that pesky Cowboys' fan was a topic of interest.
"He was coming up and was getting booed. I was like, 'I can't take this picture.' So I nicely took his hat off and set it down and took the picture. He was cool with it. It was all in fun," Wentz said.
