EVESHAM, N.J. It looked like the kind of toss-and-catch that could have happened in just about any backyard in the country.
Kafka, Avant and Adams were joined by a trainer from 7DeuceSports who acted as a center.
Its been a few weeks since Michael Vick rounded up the troops to start working out in the N.J. suburb, but on Tuesday only three Eagles showed up.
At times, the number of players on the artificial turf at Memorial has dwindled, but the players arent worried.
No, I know theyre all working together, Kafka said. So we decided to come out and get some work in ourselves.
Kafka said hes feeling more confident heading into this season, with a full year of the playbook under his belt, and said that working with Avant was helpful.
Avant wasnt worried about the lack of participation at the workouts either.
Guys are all over the place and the quarterbacks understand that, he said. Its the guys that are in town that want to workout and it will be fine. The guys are away, theyre working out. Theyre having guys throw to them. Guys are working out, its that not everyone stays here in Philadelphia. I just happen to stay here and I can get here.
The one thing that was different on Tuesday was the presence of a defensive back in coverage. Up to this point, the QBs have passed to uncovered receivers. Adams played very loosely and without contact against Avant.
We just go about our business, Kafka said. It was good to get a defensive look, but its not really going to change that much were just trying to stay on our timing.
Kafka continues to work out, but is starting to get antsy.
Everyone kind of wants to play, he said. I know the decision will come shortly enough and whenever it does come, well be ready.
