Either Vegas really, really likes Chip Kelly, or enough high-rollers emptied their pockets in the wake of the Eagles hiring to force oddsmakers into changing the Birds 2013 Super Bowl odds.
On Wednesday morning, the Eagles odds of winning the next Super Bowl were to 40-to-1. As of 3 p.m., they had improved to 25-to-1, according to Pregame.com.
Is Kelly and his high-octane offense worth that sort of precipitous change? No. But the hiring obviously energized enough bettors to put money down on the 40-to-1 odds for Vegas to lower them.
Kellys departed program, the University of Oregon, saw its odds of winning the National Championship go from 41 to 71.
Under Kelly for four seasons, Oregon went 46-7 and won consecutive bowl games. The Ducks averaged 46 or more points per game in each of his final three years.
