The Eagles received some good news on Friday.
Backup quarterback Vince Young's MRI confirmed that the injury he sustained in the Eagles' fourth preseason game against the Jets on Thursday is just a hamstring strain. It is not a tear.
Young is listed as day-to-day and should be ready for the opener against the Rams in St. Louis in nine days.
With just 53 seconds to go before halftime, Young rolled to his right on a 4th-and-1 and pulled up as he rolled out of the pocket with a hamstring injury.
I just felt my hamstring pull a little bit, Young said after the game. I dont feelits major. I feel pretty good. Hopefully, its not serious. I reallyfeel OK.
Young, who has struggled some during the preseason, was playing well against the Jets before exiting the game. He threw for 193 yards and led the Eagles on two long touchdown drives.
He went 15 for 23 with a touchdown pass and no turnovers. His passer rating was 105.9.
Young engineered first-half touchdown drives of 91 and 79 yards. He was 4for 5 for 61 yards on the first, with a 16-yard TD pass to Chad Hall, and 4 for 5 for 79 yards on the second, which was capped by DionLewiss short TD run.
Young's job, of course, is an important one. His job is to back up the 100 million man Mike Vick, who has only played an entire 16-game season once in his career.
Midway through the third quarter, third-string quarterback Mike Kafka took a wicked hit from Matthias Berning. Emergency quarterback and normal slot receiver Jason Avant grabbed his helmet but Kafka took a timeout to collect himself and was able to stay in the game.
