Watchable vs. Unwatchable: Where did Eagles rank?

Share

Were the Eagles really unwatchable or did it just feel that way?

After a 4-12 season, most fans probably feel like the entire season was unwatchable. While a late-game comeback against the Buccaneers in Week 14 was most likely the only enjoyable Eagles game in the second half, there were actually some close wins to start the season.

Remember that 3-1 start?

Deadspin has ranked all 256 regular-season games in the NFL this season.

To my surprise and most likely yours, the Eagles found their way to second on the list of most-watchable games with their Week 4 win over the Giants. But don't worry, they also found a way onto the bottom five of the list as well, against, you guessed it, the Giants.

How did they come up with these rankings?

Well, Deadspin broke it down into four categories: closeness, scoring, meaningfulness and result. This formula punishes good defensive teams like the 49ers, Bears and Broncos, but let's be honest, who likes a 9-6 game?

The most surprising aspect of Deadspin's rankings is that the Eagles didn't land in the bottom five of the most-unwatchable team's.

In fact, nine of the 16 Eagles games landed above the middle mark for game-watchability, with two games finishing in the top 10. In addition to the Week 4 Eagles-Giants game, the Eagles-Ravens contest came in at No. 8 overall.

Hey, at least the Eagles didn't finish in the bottom of something this year, right?
