The New Jersey Devils on Wednesday placed veteran forward Dainius Zubrus on injured reserve and called up Andrei Loktionov from the AHL Albany Devils.

Zubrus has missed the last four games with an upper-body injury. Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello said Zubrus his being treated with medication but wouldn't elaborate on the injury.

“We’re putting Zubrus on IR. We’re still not sure how long it will be,” Lamoriello told the New Jersey Star-Ledger (via ProHockeyTalk). “We’ll have more knowledge over the next 48 hours.”

The Devils traded a fifth-round pick to the Los Angeles Kings last week in exchange for Loktionov.

The 22-year-old forward appeared in two games for Albany. He was a minus-1 with no points in those contests.

Tortorella responds to another bench minor
Rangers head coach John Tortorella wasn't happy after his club picked up their sixth bench minor penalty of the season in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout win over the Boston Bruins.

“Another too-many-men, huh?” Tortorella said to the New York Post following the game. “No, I don’t want to expand on it. It stinks, what do you want me to say.

“It’s stupid. It sucks. It’s brutal. I can use a lot of different things.”

As pointed out by ProHockeyTalk, all six of the Rangers' bench minors have been called for too-many-men on the ice this season -- good for first in the NHL.

To put that in perspective, New York had only seven bench minors in 82 games last season -- 10th-fewest in the league.

Pens trade Tangradi to Jets
Penguins general manager Ray Shero on Wednesday made his fourth deal since the lockout-shortened season began on Jan. 19.

Pittsburgh shipped winger Eric Tangradi to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for a seventh-round pick in 2013, according to the team's official website.

The 23-year-old has played 40 career NHL games, recording one goal and five points.

Tangradi was acquired by the Penguins in 2009 as part of the Chris Kuntiz-Ryan Whitney trade.
