Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren confirmed Saturday night that the team has recalled goaltender Michael Leighton and reassigned Brian Boucher to the Phantoms.

It's entirely possible Leighton could start Sunday night against Buffalo considering the Flyers are on the second leg of a back-to-back and Ilya Bryzgalov, who's been ineffective as of late, could use a rest.

Leighton started the season with the Flyers but was placed on injured reserve on Feb. 10 after sustaining an injury in practice.

Leighton appeared in just one game before getting injured, a 5-1 loss to the Lightning in which he made 21 saves on 26 shots.

Since being called up, Boucher has appeared in four games, making one start and appearing in relief of Bryzgalov on three occasions. The 36-year-old veteran has a 2.50 goals against average and .891 save percentage.

Bryzgalov, meanwhile, leads the NHL in games started (24) but owns a 2.80 GAA and an sub-.900 save percentage (.899).
