Harry Zolnierczyk isn't a replacement for Sean Couturier or even Tom Sestito, but he is expected to join the Flyers on the ice tonight in Winnipeg.
Zolnierczyk, 25, was recalled from the Adirondack Phantoms late Monday. He'll likely replace Sestito in the lineup, because with Couturier absent, coach Peter Laviolette needs a skater who can spend more than Sestito's average of 5:46 on the ice.
Couturier, who did not play in last night's ugly 5-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, has been sent home to recover from a bout with the flu.
An assistant captain for the Phantoms, Zolnierczyk fills a different kind of role for the Flyers from that of Sestito or Couturier, but has proven he's a capable call-up, appearing in 37 games with the Flyers last season. He has nine goals and eight assists in 46 games this season with the Phantoms.
It's interesting to note the Flyers elected to recall Zolnierczyk over speedy winger Eric Wellwood, who started the season with the Flyers and played in four games before being sent back to the Phantoms.
