It might have been the easiest Flyers roster to figure out and submit to the NHL Central Registry in decades.
The 24 players who have been here will stay here, general manager Paul Holmgren said on Friday, before the 3 p.m. roster deadline.
The player limit is 23.
A decision has to be made whether to simply IR Danny Briere, which would commit him to missing a specific time period, or to take the cap hit, but free a roster spot for Tommy Sestito by merely designating Briere non-rosterinjured.
Non-roster is where the Flyers are leaning. Briere is still recovering from a hairline fracture in his left wrist.
Danny is coming along, but obviously, he is not going this weekend, Holmgren said. Were close enough to say day-to-day.
Rookie center Scott Laughton makes the club for now.
Each case is different and Scott has continued to keep up with what were doing, Holmgren said.
With Dannys situation being as it is, it just gives us a few days to give us a bit longer look. Whether he plays tomorrow itll be a good experience for him, even if he watches the game.
Laughton gets five game to show what he can do. Holmgren wasnt sure whether that was enough, but given he is centering Wayne Simmonds and Matt Read, that line will get ample minutes for coach Peter Laviolette to make a call.
Holmgren said he was 95 percent certain that defenseman Andrej Meszaros would play against Pittsburgh.
Meszaros has had a long recovery from Achilles tendon surgery last August.
