The lockout is officially over.
The signing of the MOU allows training camps to open on Sunday and for the league to release the schedule.
It also allows teams to trade and sign free agents.
In the Flyers case, a league source said the club plans to sign veteran defenseman Kurtis Foster, a 31-year-old free agent from Minnesota, who also played in Anaheim and New Jersey last season (see story).
The Flyers could be signing a free agent defenseman as early as Sunday morning, which means Foster could be in camp on Sunday or Monday.
He is fully recovered from a shoulder injury and would be an upgrade for the Flyers who are desperate for veteran depth, given their injury situation.
Though Foster is not as mobile as he once was, he has imposing size on the blue 6-foot-5, 226 pounds.
