Ex-Flyer and current Sabre Ville Leino is eyeing Sunday's game at the Wells Fargo Center for a possible return from a hip injury, according to the Buffalo News, via ProHockeyTalk.

"Philly would probably be one of the good options here," Leino said. "I’m having a lot of fun out there. I wish practices would run longer, and that normally doesn’t happen during the season. It’s pretty exciting."

The 29-year-old winger signed a six-year, $27 million contract with the Sabres a season after scoring 19 goals and assisting 34 more for the Flyers. But in the 2011-12 season with Buffalo, he managed just eight goals and 17 assists in 71 games played.

Leino, who has not yet played this season, last appeared in an NHL game on April 7, 2012.

Staal should make full recovery
The Rangers announced on Wednesday that defenseman Marc Staal, who took a puck to his right eye on a Kimmo Timonen slap shot during Tuesday's 4-2 Flyers loss (see story), should make a full recovery.

Although the team is optimistic, no timetable has been set for Staal's return.
