Chip Kelly: Nick Foles' clavicle hasn't healed yet

It’s looking more and more likely that Mark Sanchez will finish out the regular season for the Eagles.

And the postseason, too?

Chip Kelly doesn’t entertain hypothetical scenarios (you may have heard) so press pause on your-long term quarterback forecast.

But as for Nick Foles, Kelly said the broken clavicle Foles sustained against the Texans on Nov. 2 in Houston is still healing. Foles underwent a CT scan Friday, a day after the Eagles seized sole control of first place in the NFC East by thumping the Cowboys, 33-10, in Arlington, Texas.

"He’ll have another exam," Kelly said Monday, "until he eventually gets cleared, because the bone hasn’t healed yet."

Kelly said he didn’t know when Foles’ next exam would take place.

At the time of his injury, Foles was expected to miss around six to eight weeks. Sunday’s game against the Seahawks at the Linc will mark five full weeks since Foles suffered the injury, so it’s a safe bet that Sanchez will start next Sunday’s rematch against the Cowboys at the Linc.

If Sanchez, who is 3-1 since taking over as the starter, gets the Eagles (9-3) to 11-3 going into consecutive division games against Washington and the Giants, it’s hard to see Kelly making another quarterback change even if Foles is ready for the Saturday afternoon game against Washington on Dec. 20.

There is also the possibility of Foles' needing all eight weeks to recover, which would take him to the season finale.

Sanchez, a career 55-percent passer going into his first year with the Eagles, has completed close to 70 percent of his passes in each of his past two games, wins against the Titans and Cowboys. He has upped his season completion percentage to 63.4 — easily a career best — and has passer ratings of at least 102.2 in two of his four starts.

In his dismantling of Dallas on Thanksgiving, Sanchez didn't throw an interception for the second time.

Said Kelly: "Anytime you win the turnover battle it’s going to be a positive for you."
