Eagles-Colts: Our (cough) expert predictions

The Eagles (1-0) look to snap a 15-game road losing streak dating back 23 years against AFC playoff teams Monday night in Indianapolis against the Colts (0-1).

Will the Eagles begin the season 2-0? Our experts weigh in:

Ray Didinger
This is a tough spot for the Eagles. The Colts are coming off a tough loss in Denver and they are playing at home where Andrew Luck is very good. The Eagles can move the ball against the Colts defense but I think the O-line will have trouble with the loud crowd.

Tall order for the Eagles Monday night facing a team that rarely loses at home (13-3 under Andrew Luck) on a Monday night with two substitute offensive linemen. The Eagles can beat most teams in a shootout, but I'm not sure they're locked in enough right now on offense to overcome the 31 to 34 points I expect Luck and Co. to put on the scoreboard. I expect this defense to find its stride as the season goes along — like it did last year — but I don't think it's quite ready for this challenge yet.

Everything says Colts win. Indianapolis 13-4 at home since drafting Andrew Luck. They're already 0-1 and don't seem like the type of team to be 0-2. The Eagles are down two starting offensive linemen. But outside of Luck and receivers Reggie Wayne and T.Y. Hilton, I don't see many game-changers on the Colts. Without Robert Mathis, they're mediocre on defense. The odds aren't favorable, but I think the Eagles make a stunning statement in this game.

The Colts were a few plays from upsetting Denver on the road to start the season. The Eagles were a few plays from getting upset by the Jaguars at home to start the season. Nick Foles worries me a little. The offensive line worries me a lot. I'm a worrier.

The Eagles had no business trailing Jacksonville 17-0 at the half. Once they showed up in the third quarter, the game was no contest.

They cannot afford to fall far behind the Colts. Andrew Luck's run game is limited, and Indy has proven it can pass the ball all over the lot with efficiency.

On Monday night, the Colts will come out throwing off play action and Luck will hit his targets. For the second straight week, the Eagles will trail at halftime.

This time, they will not have the benefit of an opponent that will fade in the moment. Luck will pass for more than 300 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.

LeSean McCoy will rush for more than 120 yards and Nick Foles will pass for a touchdown and run for another. Tight end Zach Ertz will catch a touchdown for the second straight week. But the Eagles will struggle to get the Colts' offense off the field in the fourth quarter and will come up short of a rally to victory.

The Eagles were able to overcome a rough start last week, but that was against Jacksonville. The Colts are a much different beast, especially at home where they are 13-3 over the last two seasons. Andrew Luck is a gunslinger and he has multiple weapons at his disposal.

This has the makings of a real shootout with two offenses capable of scoring from anywhere on the field. But when the dust settles, the Colts will gallop off with the win.

Road Monday night game in a raucous dome against a team that lost its first game of the season. Bad intangibles for the Birds.

Can the Eagles win this game? Certainly. The Colts will score, but their D is nothing to be scared of, especially without linebacker Jerrell Freeman (attention Zach Ertz).

Will the Eagles win this game? Just not feeling it.
