Scouting report
A 2009 sixth-round pick out of Utah by the Texans, McCain spent his first five seasons in Houston before signing a one-year deal with the Steelers. In Pittsburgh, McCain started nine games and registered a career-high three interceptions, returning one 31 yards for a touchdown. For his career, McCain has eight interceptions and 190 return yards with two touchdowns 86 games (19 starts). He made $730,000 last year.

Geoff’s take
Nothing about McCain’s 5-9 fame screams “Chip Kelly guy.” But the Eagles have no depth at outside cornerback and need more than just two starters. They’re never gonna play Brandon Boykin on the outside and believe Nolan Carroll is best suited in his dime role. They need someone who can start if needed, and not all of those guys are going to be 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds. McCain’s a good, workmanlike corner who can play inside and outside. He shut down All Pro wideout A.J. Green in Week 17 to help the Steelers win the NFC North. He might not be not a 16-week starter but he’d be an above-average depth signing.

Roob’s take
I just don’t see Bill Davis and Chip Kelly signing a 5-9 corner. McCain’s a solid guy and could be a capable third outside corner and get you through a game or two if somebody got hurt, but if the Eagles aren’t going to give that opportunity to an explosive playmaking athlete like Brandon Boykin, they’re sure as heck not going to give it to Brice McCain. The Eagles do need cornerback depth (in addition to starters), but I can’t see it being McCain.
