Scouting report

Evans, who was drafted in the fourth round by the Saints in 2006, has had a really good career. In his 10 NFL seasons, he's been to six Pro Bowls, was a four-time All-Pro selection and won a Super Bowl. After a decade in New Orleans, the Saints cut him this offseason to save $3.1 million in cap room. In 2015, Evans played just 11 games, the lowest total in his 10-year career. From 2006-2014, he missed just two games.

My take

Evans would be an immediate improvement over Allen Barbre and Matt Tobin. And it's not even close. But Evans will be 33 by the time the season starts and his choice to turn down a pay cut to stay in New Orleans makes me question how much money he'll want. Either way, the market for a 33-year-old guard isn't going to be huge. We saw something similar with Evan Mathis last season.

Evans probably doesn't have many good years left, so signing with a team closer to a Super Bowl would make sense, and the Eagles should really think about getting better while also getting younger on the offensive line. Still, Evans is from Philly, so his name will be mentioned plenty. Sure, he'd be a good player for the Eagles in 2016, but they should probably be thinking longer-term. They need to make drafting offensive linemen a real priority.
