Riley Cooper, Jeff Maehl and Bennie Logan returned to practice on Sunday when the Eagles held training camp at Franklin Field.

Cooper and Maehl had ankle injuries and were in walking boots for much of the last week. Both wide receivers missed Friday’s preseason opener against the Bears in Chicago. On Sunday, Cooper and Maehl ran routes with the rest of the wideout group.

Logan also didn’t play against the Bears. The defensive tackle was held out because of a hamstring injury. He joined the other defensive linemen for various drills at Franklin Field.

Offensive lineman Julian Vandervelde underwent back surgery on Thursday, according to Tim McManus of Birds 24/7. Vandervelde is not eligible for the physically unable to perform list because he's already practiced with the team. His rehab time is expected to be similar to Dennis Kelly's. Kelly had back surgery last August and was cleared to participate in all football activities in September.

Linebacker Casey Matthews left the preseason game in Chicago with a lower back injury and did not return. Running back Matthew Tucker was also taken out of the game. He left in the second half because of a hamstring issue.

“Casey should practice by Tuesday,” Chip Kelly said. “Tuck is going to see what he can do, but we’re anticipating him coming back this week.”
