The biggest bit of Eagles injury news Wednesday was Chip Kelly's comment that inside linebacker Kiko Alonso does not appear destined for injured reserve with a sprain in the same knee he needed surgery on last summer (see story).

But a handful of other Eagles are dealing with nagging injuries, and the updates on them were mixed.

Running back DeMarco Murray, who missed the Week 3 win with a hamstring injury, was limited Wednesday at practice for the second day in a row.

The Eagles' success in the run game against the Jets had little to do with Murray's absence. Ryan Mathews (25 carries for 108 rushing yards) and Darren Sproles (11 for 17) combined for 125 yards on the ground, but that had more to do with the offensive line's ability to finally open up holes and prevent the numerous losses they allowed in the first two weeks.

Also limited Wednesday were left tackle Jason Peters (quad), wide receiver Josh Huff (hamstring) and defensive ends Cedric Thornton (hand) and Taylor Hart (shoulder).

Wide receiver Riley Cooper (knee) and safety Chris Maragos (quad) did not practice.

Kelly said Wednesday that he expects Peters and Cooper to play Sunday. Maragos said at his locker that he thinks he'll be good to go.

The Eagles are encouraged by inside linebacker Mychal Kendricks' progress coming back from the hamstring injury that cost him the Jets game, but Kelly said the nature of the injury calls for the team to monitor him closely leading up to the game in Washington. Kendricks was a full participant Wednesday. He said the competitor in him thinks he can go Sunday, but he won't know until he sees how his hamstring reacts to a week of practice.
