Eagles Injury Update: Jason Peters practices, Byron Maxwell out

Jason Peters returned to practice on Tuesday, but cornerbacks Byron Maxwell and Jaylen Watkins were both sidelined with injuries, as were Bennie Logan and Seyi Ajirotutu.

Maxwell's absence wasn't surprising given he was inactive for Saturday's game with an SC sprain. Watkins, on the other hand, was unexpected, and it could be a serious blow to the Eagles secondary if he misses Sunday's game against the Giants. Watkins played 31 snaps in the loss to Washington.

If Maxwell and Watkins are both unavailable on Sunday, rookie Denzel Rice would likely see his first action of the season.

Logan remained out with a calf injury that caused him to miss Saturday's game. He's considered day-to-day, but Beau Allen might be set to make his second start at nose tackle.

Ajirotutu (ankle) was also out for Saturday, so his status for this week is very much up in the air as well. He doesn't take many snaps at wide receiver, but is a key contributor on special teams.

At least the Eagles appear to have Peters back at left tackle. He left Saturday's game early with an elbow injury, only to return, then ultimately exit the contest permanently. Peters has battled numerous injuries throughout the season.

The Eagles release an official injury report on Wednesday.
