Eagles sign former Delaware WR Mike Johnson

The Eagles filled their 90-man roster Tuesday with the signing of former University of Delaware wide receiver Mike Johnson.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Johnson fills the roster spot left void by the Saturday trade that sent cornerback Brandon Boykin to the Steelers.

Johnson’s offensive coordinator at Delaware, Sean Devine, coached alongside Chip Kelly for several years at New Hampshire and has incorporated some of Kelly’s up-tempo offense into the Blue Hens’ attack.

Johnson, from Gainesville, Florida, ranked second in FBS all-purpose yardage with 1,800 yards. He caught 60 passes for 1,035 yards and nine touchdowns while rushing for 159 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned 20 kickoffs, averaging 20.9 yards per return.

Johnson joins Devante Davis, John Harris and Rasheed Bailey as 2015 rookie free agents hoping to compete for a spot on the roster or practice squad.
