The Eagles made another minor roster move on Friday, signing free agent linebacker Deontae Skinner two days before their preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts.

Earlier in the day, the team waived outside linebacker Brandon Hepburn (abdominal) and defensive end B.J. McBryde (foot) after reaching injury settlements. The Eagles also agreed to a contract with free agent defensive end Alfy Hill.

Skinner, who went undrafted out of Mississippi State in 2014, was released by the New England Patriots in May.

The 24-year-old bounced back and forth between the Patriots' practice squad and active roster multiple times in 2014, but was with the team during its Super Bowl run. He started one game for the Pats and made seven total appearances, recording 16 tackles and a sack.

The 6-foot-2, 250-pounder will provide the Eagles with some extra depth at linebacker. Mychal Kendricks and DeMeco Ryans have missed practice time at training camp and Kiko Alonso is currently sidelined with a concussion.
