A whirlwind 24-hour span for the Eagles head coaching search committee that started Saturday in Philadelphia wrapped up Sunday night in Denver with a stop in Phoenix in between.
The trio of owner Jeffrey Lurie, president Don Smolenski and general manager Howie Roseman departed Denver after an interview with Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, a meeting that wasnt as long or as scrutinized as their gathering with Oregon football coach Chip Kelly in the desert Saturday.
When all was said and done, team brass headed home without a new head coach and unsuccessful in its well-chronicled courting of Kelly, who has decided to remain at Oregon (see story).

Kelly had also met with the Browns and Bills, but each organization moved on shortly after its interview. The Bills already hired former Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone.
Lurie said last Monday after firing Andy Reid that his list of replacements was very defined and that he and the search team would be thorough in the process to find the right person to lead the franchise into its next phase.
Since Wednesday, the trio has interviewed five candidates -- Falcons assistants Mike Nolan and Keith Armstrong, Penn State football coach Bill OBrien, Kelly and McCoy. They have interviews slated this week for Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians and Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley.
Both assistants were involved in Sundays playoff games, although Arians missed the Colts game -- a 24-9 loss to the Ravens -- because of an illness that hospitalized him. The Colts announced that hes OK.

Bradleys defense gave up two early touchdowns but pitched a second-half shutout on the road against the Redskins at FedEx Field, propelling Seattle into the second round with a 24-14 win over Washington. A team spokesperson said interview times and dates for Arians and Bradley arent finalized yet.
The Eagles on Saturday asked permission from the Bengals to interview offensive coordinator Jay Gruden but as of Sunday night had not had their request granted.
