Eagles' rookie camp bullet points, Day 2

Quick hits from Day 2 of Eagles rookie camp at the NovaCare Complex:

Cornerback Brandon Boykin really jumps out with his instincts and athleticism. Boykin, the fourth-round pick from Georgia, was locked up 1-on-1 with receiver Elvis Akpla near the left sideline during morning practice and leaped high in the air to swat away a Nick Foles pass intended for Akpla. Boykin has a lot to learn, but already looks confident and comfortable with everything thats being thrown at him.

Naturally, these drills are all non-contact, but that doesnt stop the defenders from wanting to crush people. When receiver Aaron Pflugrad caught a short pass near the left sideline, linebacker Monte Simmons had a clean shot on Pflugrad, but had to let him turn upfield for a big gain. Man, I really want to hit that bleep, Simmons muttered to himself.

Foles, by the way, throws a nice mid-range ball. Hes got a lot of work to do with his footwork, cradle and release, but he seems to put the ball where he wants to most of the time.

Keep an eye on Bryce Brown. Hes got a nice burst. Brown has been getting a lot of 1-on-1 attention from all the coaches, so you know they really feel like they have a diamond in the rough. This could be a really fascinating story.

Damaris Johnson is really fast.

Defensive end Maurice Fountain, the oldest guy in camp at 29, was carted off the field during afternoon practice with a right leg injury. Fountain graduated from Clemson in 2005 and has bounced around the UFL, Arena1 and Arena2 before spending some time last year on the Seahawks practice squad.

Osi Umenyiora wont let his feud with LeSean McCoy die (see story). Umenyiora tweeted this on Sunday to McCoy: Happy Mothers Day LeSean McCoy! Enjoy your special day!! McCoy in the past hasnt hesitated to mock Umenyiora. After the Eagles beat the Giants last year, McCoy was asked what he thought about Umenyioras performance, and he responded, Did he play? I didnt see much of him. But this time, McCoy just laughed off Umenyiora, tweeting: Lol let the beef begin. And that was the end of it. For Sunday, at least.
