Free agent Bell leaves Philadelphia without deal

Jason Peters' ruptured Achilles tendon has the Eagles searching for a replacement at left tackle -- a replacement like Demetrius Bell.

But CSN's Derrick Gunn is reporting that Bell has left Philadelphia after a weekend visit with the team and did so without signing a contract.

Should the front office be able to convince the free agent to come back to town for a more permanent stay with the Birds, it will be somewhat fitting for both Bell and the injured Peters. After all, it was Bell who replaced Peters at left tackle in Buffalo after the Bills traded the latter to the Eagles in 2009.

Now a free agent himself, Bell would have the opportunity to step in for Peters again, assuming he wants to become an Eagle. The 27-year-old already met with the Steelers earlier this week and has reportedly drawn interest from the Packers, Redskins and Cardinals since the beginning of free agency.

Peters injured his Achilles last week while working out near his home in Texas. He will undergo surgery on Tuesday in Philadelphia.
