Freeh to investigate Saints bounty program

Louis Freeh on Thursday rocked the sports world with his findings that Joe Paterno and other top Penn State officials buried child sexual abuse allegations against Jerry Sandusky more than a decade ago to avoid bad publicity. (see story)

Now that the Freeh Report has been released, Paternos legacy has been forever tarnished, writes John Gonzalez. (see story)

So whats next for Freeh?

As noted by ProFootballTalk, the former FBI Director is slated to investigate the New Orleans Saints bounty scandal, as well as the accusation that Saints general manager Mickey Loomis eavesdropped on opposing coaches from his Superdome box during games.

Last month, Saints owner Tom Benson hired Freeh to tackle both cases.

Considering all that was exposed in his Penn State report, Freeh and his investigative team appeared interested only in getting to the truth of what happened, and not at all in protecting anyone whose reputation might be damaged.

Given that, maybe Freeh will be able to shed some light on what took place in New Orleans.
