Garcia ‘would pay' to be Eagles' backup QB

The Eagles already have a crowded quarterback situation with Mike Kafka, Trent Edwards and third-round pick Nick Foles battling to be Michael Vicks backup. But one more QB would be interested in throwing his hat into the ring, if given the opportunity.

Jeff Garcia said on 94WIP (via CBS Sports) Friday afternoon that the Eagles are one of the only teams he would seriously consider coming back to play for.

Philly is the team my wife will let me go back and play for, Garcia told Glen Macnow and Anthony Gargano. "Shes the only one who can approve the move.

Garcia, who led the Eagles to five straight wins to end the 2006 season for an NFC East title, referred to his first stint in Philly as one of the greatest experiences that Ive ever been through.

He valued his time in Philly so much that he joked hed be willing to accept a reverse agreement to play for the Eagles again.

If the Eagles call Im picking up the phone and saying Andy Reid how much do you want me to pay you so I can come in and get things fired up around there? Garcia said.

Id pay to play, thats just me. I can be that person who can continue to motivate and inspire and help teach and educate. And if given the opportunity to step on the field, Im going to give everything I have to find success, no matter how it happens.

Garcia, owner of a 58-58 career record and a nifty 161-to-83 touchdown-to-interception ratio, hasnt thrown a pass since 2008, and at age 42 its hard to envision him making a meaningful comeback.

But for an indication of how respected the Eagles organization is by players, look no further than Garcias Friday comments.
