Washburn: Time with Eagles not ‘a good fit'

Like Andy Reid's other assistants -- Todd Bowles, Bobby April, Juan Castillo, Marty Mornhinweg -- former Eagles defensive line coach Jim Washburn has found himself a new job.

Washburn has landed with the Detroit Lions, joining his good friend, head coach Jim Schwartz, and son, offensive line coach Jeremiah Washburn, in a role that has not yet been specified.

He may not have a job title, but he's happy to be there.

"It just was a made-to-be thing," Washburn told the Detroit Free Press. "Once Jim reached out to me, right after the season, I didn't even get my heart into anything else. The chance to walk out on the field with your son every day ... that's pretty special."

And of his time with the Eagles, which ended amidst reports that Washburn was a divisive figure in the team's locker room?

"I enjoyed my time with the Eagles, but, wow, it's different," he said. "Just wasn't a good fit. But joining the Lions is a perfect fit."

Eagles fans likely second Washburn's assessment of his time in Philly.
